WordPress Zillow Chart Demographic Plugin

Content relevant Zillow charting for your pages and posts

This plug-in was created to provide real estate and mortgage lending professionals a way to put Zillow API Charts for Demographic related data in their pages and posts.  By providing images and charts related to the neighborhoods, cities, subdivisions and areas you represent and blog about, you expand the potential usability and reader interest of your content.

When the foundation was laid out for this plug-in, it became obvious that the tools for adding such content must be extremely easy to implement, easy to understand and relatively easy to customize for designers and theme developers to provide a wide range of appeal. Since our target audience is as broad as the themes and blog designs they employ, we wanted to be absolutely certain that easy modification to the template files could be performed even by non designers so presentation of the charts matches the basic structure of their blog posts.

Although this is the default landing page for the WP Zillow Plugin, we will provide general updates and links to additional posts about this plug-in as they become available at the bottom of this page. General documentation is just below for basic setup and configuration while more detailed or even more advanced styling and implementation methods will be discussed in our support forum located at http://www.ultimateidx.com/forums/.

Installation, Setup and Configuration

To install and setup this plug-in simply follow one of these two different methods below. Before you begin the installation and configuration you will need to have either full FTP (file transfer protocol) access to your domain or administrators access to the blog this plug-in will be installed on. You will also need to acquire what is known as a Zillow API Key which you can obtain by visiting the ZILLOW API Key Page. More details below!

Installing Plug-in From WordPress Admin Panel

• Log in as administrator to your blog and click on the Plugins menu link then the Add New link. Then simply;
• A) Navigate to the downloaded plugin zip file on your computer by selecting the browse button or;
• B) Search for the plugin in by typing in “Zillow Chart” with the tag option selected then find our plugin.
• Navigate to the plugin editor and paste in the Zillow API (available next release).

Configuring the plugin

• Simply navigate to the plugin under Settings.
• Fill in all the fields with the area you want the charts generated for.
• Select the template you wish to use for the charts.
• Add the template tag like { zillow_1 } to the page or post you want the Zillow Demographics Charts to render.
• Style or customize the templates to meet your design requirements. Template file is located in the /wp-content/plugins/wp-zillow/templates/ directory. The template zillow_x.html must NOT be deleted. New templates should be named as zillow_2.html, zillow_3.html and so on.
